Welcome to the world of escape rooms at Edmonton’s Breakout Entertainment.
Started in 2014, Breakout Entertainment became Edmonton’s first escape room company, allowing Edmontonians to battle against the clock to solve the mysteries and puzzles found first at their west end headquarters and then later at their location in the east end of the city.
Breakout Entertainment founders Allan Sham, Jimmy Ye and Sam Ly are based in Vancouver but chose Edmonton as the place they wanted to introduce to the escape room phenomenon, so they could give local players a chance to try something new.
Since day one, the founders have been crafting the themes and building the props for the escape rooms found at both of their Edmonton locations. “They do everything from the puzzles to the construction. As far as rooms are concerned, it’s all [done] in house,” says Dartanion Johnson, general manager.
