Carbon Environmental Boutique we believe in making a greener, healthier lifestyle easily attainable. The world of print, paperwork and advertising has been historically known to inflict harm on the natural world. Forests have been razed so that we may have office paper and pamphlets.
Allison MacLean loves her work. She also loves this planet. But, what she really loves is being able to weave both passions together to make them an integral part of her professional career and personal life.
Allison's able to do that via Carbon Environmental Boutique, an eco-friendly retail store she owns in the High Street shopping district. Operating since 2009, Carbon was set up after she searched high and low in frustration for goods that were not only healthy to use, but contained ingredients that didn't poison natural surroundings.
“There was nowhere to purchase non-toxic products for skin care, cosmetics, home décor, housewares and home renovation products,” says Allison. “I always wanted to support only the products that were the healthiest and the best for my family and the planet.”
Unlike most retailers, which might dedicate a shelf or section to organic or environmentally friendly products, Carbon's entire inventory is dedicated to the ecological and health-conscious cause, with scores of products gracing the shelves at Carbon, from makeup and cleaning products to painting supplies and gardening accessories. Carbon stocks merchandise from nearly 200 brands, ranging from Abeego to Xtrema Cookware, including some items not available elsewhere in Canada.
Going green with your decor has never been so easy, thanks to Carbon Environmental Boutique. Carbon brings in pieces with an emphasis on environmental responsibility, as well as being stylish. In addition to décor, they also offer eco-friendly paint and flooring options.
This cute shop, located in the High Street complex, carries eco-chic products that will make any picnic even greener. Products include cutlery, such as bamboo forks, spoons, knives and sporks. They also stock Preserve sandwich containers, plates, tumblers and cutlery sets, which are made from recycled yogurt containers – but are durable enough to stand up to multiple trips through the dishwasher. You can also pick up Abeego flats and pockets, made from hemp, cotton, beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil. They’re a reusable alternative to saran wrap or plastic baggies.
An eco-friendly haven, Carbon stocks everything you need to live a greener life while staying eco-chic. From natural deodorants and lotions to non-toxic paint and bamboo utensils, they have it all. You’ll also find eco starter kits, water purification kits, bedding, baby items and some foodstuffs, like fair trade coffee, honey and chocolate.
