John Mackell, the owner of Laurel's on Whyte, has worked at the shop since he was in school, pitching in part-time in between classes. In business since 1992, John always had an eye on buying the business, and in 2012 he finally took the big leap.
John never forgets about the special moments that bring people to the shop. “We share in all of the occasions that our customers buy flowers for,” he says. “It may be for a wedding, funeral or birthday celebration. We experience all of that emotion with them.”
A designer by trade, John was drawn to the dedication and hard work that it took to run a successful business, along with the high level of customer service he brings from many years of working retail.
