Located on 17th Ave in Calgary, Indo Designer Rugs Trading Inc. is one of Canada’s most trendy and professional importers of foreign carpets and rugs. Founded in 1988 by husband and wife Rana and Anchal Mehrotra, the couple saw a need in Calgary for authentic and beautiful foreign carpets, imported from the likes of India, Nepal, and Pakistan.
Coming from India themselves, the couple had several connections to producers of carpets abroad. “We came to Canada and realized this was a largely untapped industry,” explains Rana. “What we didn’t realize was how quickly designers and architects would discover our business. After just a few years, we had to expand to a much larger location.”
With a 16,000 sq ft building and the biggest carpet showroom in Western Canada, Indo Designer Rugs has approximately 10,000 different pieces on display at any time. “We have one of the most diverse collections in the country,” Rana says. “There’s something here that everyone will fall in love with.”
