Zane and Linda Stockwell had been renting out their beautiful flower-filled backyard as an outdoor wedding venue for about 10 years. Then in 2007, they decided to add a bed and breakfast as a separate business they could run all year long. “We are empty nesters; we had two extra bedrooms and a bathroom, so it made sense,” says Zane. That's how their home became Greystone Gardens Bed & Breakfast, located just west of Devon in the tiny community of Graminia.
Since Greystone Gardens Bed & Breakfast opened, it has been a popular spot for travellers and even vacationers looking to escape Edmonton for a weekend. “Our guests, we find, are usually just passing through and need a place to relax,” says Zane. “Or they want to get away from the city because it is tranquil and you feel like you're miles away even though we are still pretty close to Edmonton.”
