The People
Our roots go back to 1969 when Nobby Yamamoto began creating and maintaining lush manicured gardens in the Japanese tradition. In 1985 he began training his son-in-law Roy Fisher, and together created Wild West Gardens, rooted in the philosophy of professional customer service, innovative solutions, and attention to detail.
Wild West is now a multi-generation family company. Nobby is still active as an advisor and consultant, and Roy is president.
Over the years Roy’s son, Ben Fisher, has played an important role in the company as foreman and now General Manager. Ben earned his Journeyman in Landscape Horticulture from Kwantlen School of Horticulture.In the late 90’s Wild West began expanding its maintenance service to include apartment buildings and commercial malls, developing a relationship with local building owners and strata property managers. One of our first commercial contracts was with Terra Nova Shopping Center in Richmond, developed by Westbank Projects of Vancouver.
After years of residential landscape renovations and new installations, in 2003 Wild West expanded to include new commercial and multi-unit residential landscape installation.
Some of our first projects were renovations to Coppersmith Corner shopping mall, expansion of Ironwood Shopping Center, and 73 townhouse units over slab at McKinney Crossing in 2005, all in Richmond.
