Yann Fougere and David Boetti might have left France years ago, but they brought a sweet piece of it with them: macarons. The business partners opened their first Bon MacaronPatisserie in Victoria in December 2012, then expanded into Vancouver’s West Broadway strip in August 2015. A month later, they opened a third dessert shop on Granville Island.
Yann, originally from Paris, is now based in Victoria. David hails from sunny Cannes, and is now settled in Vancouver. The two met at university in southern France. Yann ventured to Victoria to earn a business degree in 2005 and David relocated to Vancouver one year later to study English.
The entrepreneurs saw Canada’s West Coast as a great place to live, so they considered launching a business venture together. "We wanted to bring a traditional part of our home culture to Canadians," David notes. Yann adds, "macarons were the perfect fit." Voila! Bon Macaron was born.
Pretty, pastel and delightfully Parisienne, it’s hard not to love a delicate and sweet macaron. A tempting treat at any time of year, these meringue-based confections make a particularly colourful addition to a holiday party spread or festive gift basket. Bon Macaron Patisserie will be offering a special Baker’s Dozen deal during Shop The Neighbourhood; purchase a gift box of 12 macarons and you’ll receive one free treat to pop in your mouth on the way out the door! Flavour options include classics like salted caramel and vanilla and seasonal specialities such as pumpkin spice and peach pear.
Bon Macaron first opened their doors in downtown Victoria, B.C. and just recently made the move to Vancouver with two local outposts: one in Kitsilano and the other on Granville Island. Both shops offer a large selection of flavours, at the sweet price of just $1.50 per macaron. Daring dessert fans can also try unique savoury flavours such as Sriracha, curry mango chutney and strawberry balsamic! And the stamp card will keep you coming back for more delicious treats.
