Grieg Star Shipping AS is a part of the privately held Grieg group of companies. Our board of directors and management and our senior commercial and operational staff are located in Bergen, Norway. So are the trade groups who stay on top of each voyage in each trade lane. The branch offices are staffed with experienced commercial people who deal directly with customers in their area from contracts to bookings. The operations staff deal with the stowage, loading or discharging of the ships in their area. The branch offices also deal direct with local stevedores, agents, and other vendors. Since our beginning in 1961 we took part in the fast-growing worldwide trade in wood pulp and paper. These commodities originally amounted to over 90 percent of our business. However, as the benefits of the open hatch, gantry craned ships became evident, we were glad to see other industries preferring our ships.
