I had a wonderful night one week ago. the place is small but very hospitable. The waiter very professional and always friendly and helpful. And the food? .... WOW. I think it's the best Italian food I have ever tasted. You've got to eat there...definitely!
We tried to get reservations a few times and the restaurant was always booked until 10 pm. Took a chance and called last weekend and got seats. Too bad . The place was really loud , had poor air conditioning and with a bunch of grown men in shorts , tee shirts and sport sandals the ambiance was awful! The waiters were really trying their best and made an effort but my impression was they lacked knowledge of the menu. The worst part was the food. Underwhelming ,salty and poor presentation. Cant understand why they were so busy. Definitely not the right choice for an intimate conversation.
Brought my mother here for a special occasion. Will be coming back over and over again. Service was attentive to our special requirements, and made us feel particularly welcome. And the food!! OMG!!! Have not had a meal this good in a long time. Calamari was perfect, simply cooked, and spot on, tender, tender, and delicious. Bruschetta was fresh, one menu pasta, and one feature pasta, both to die for, (feature priced completely in line with the menu, contrary to another reviewer) and a chicken parm for junior. Dessert was a luscious mousse/cheesecake that the young diner was loath to share. Can't beat the prices at this quality level. Portions are generous, and the food outstanding.
We came to this restaurant for my grandparents' anniversary. From the moment we walked in, it was amazing! It was a long weekend and the owner opened the restaurant just for our party. That defnitely impressed us! The decor is amazing, it is very antique and looks great! The food was delicious, ever course that came out kept getting better and better. The waitress was very kind and attentive, she even took photos of us. The owner then came out afterwards and spoke with us, giving his congratulations to my grandparents. Very kind people and great good, would definitely go back anytime!
Me and my husband found the food to be horible, we had to send it back and then re-order a different dish and it was still bad. we basically just ate a bit cause we were starving and left. on top of that when we said our food was bland to the waiter he looked at us like we were from a different planet and then after that the service went from bad to horrible. Trust me when i say do not even try their food. You will spend $100 and complain after.
It was a Friday evening and we suddenly found our selves needing a place to dine. We popped into DiMario’s and they kindly gave us a table that was reserved for 8:00. We started with a ceasar salad which was absolutely perfect. The dressing was light and flavourful, but nothing overpowering. My wife had veal with a mushroom sauce and I had some kind of stuffed pasta dishs that looked like a large flower with some ricotta between the petals and smothered with a yummy rose sauce. My wife's meal included grilled vegetables and potato. I don’t normally like these kind of stuffed Italian pastas, but this was really good. Both are meals were off the charts good. The service was impeccable and very friendly.
After having walked out of another Italian restaurant on the Lakeshore where we had reservations because they had not even taken our drink order after a lengthy time, which is not something we would ordinarily do, we walked into DiMario's. Here we were greeted by the friendly staff. I requested a pasta dish with mushrooms and olives and my partner ordered the special of spaghetti and meatball. The chef talked to us from the open kitchen and asked us a few questions to accomodate our requests. I believe his name was Jonathon. The dishes were wonderful and the server was excellent. It was my partner's birthday and we plan to return with guests very soon.
First time around everything was 'adequate but not a value'. This time each meal was below acceptable and overpriced. The swordfish was mushy with a green no taste sauce. The smoke salmon was skimpy, not enough to taste in the pasta. The chicken was dry, overcooked. Heard some good things about the place but wouldn't go back now.
Went there last night with my boyfriend. The food was okay, the atmosphere was similar to any other italian restaurant...everything about the place was okay/good...just nothing unique or special. My only true complaint is about the service we got there. The waiter had forgotten to add our bottle of wine to the bill. I decided to show some class, and we pointed it out to him. He examined the bill and said, "oh I forgot to add the 2 expresso as well." Now I would have thought a "nice" establishment would want to keep their customers happy, to show appreciation for their business...and show appreciation of the fact that he just undercharged us and had made a mistake and we pointed it out - at our own financial detriment. I would (and did) expect him at least to return and thank us by giving us the measley 2 expressos on the house, considering we just saved the waiters behind, and the coffees cost a piddly 6 bucks. It's the sentiment and the gesture. But he didn't. There was the wine AND the 2 coffees on our bill. Given the fact that I STILL tipped him properly and didn't penalize him, shows I was still able to show some "class"...but I was shocked and insulted, and have no plans to go back.
Unfortunately we were seated right next to the kitchen even though we had a reservation. The service was good; i like that the servers are grown Italian men, not kids. They made exceptions where requested (i had my dish made without raisins and my guest had a plain salad made specially for him). There were very few vegetarian options. The food portions were perfect in size and delicious. The decor and atmosphere feels very classically back-home Italian. The complementary bread was fresh and delectable - probably the best part of the meal. The location is perfect, suitable parking available and close to the lake for an after-dinner walk.
I have just finished reaching every review for this restaurant. I figure those whose reported a less than perfect score -- you know who you are -- were probably under the influence upon arrival at the Restaurant. I have no other explanation for your ridiculours comments !! Without mentioning the numerous times we have dined here -- I need to explain our evening just last nite. For my 40th birthday party we were granted the use of the private dining room which held 22 of our closest friends and family. We were served the entire evening single handedly by Moreno. This is NOT to say that NIkki was not present and ensuring all details were paid attention to - but there was not one single guest who went longer than 1 minute without a full, fresh glass of water, vino, beer or cocktail of their choice. All meals were served on a timely basis and at once so we could all enjoy our dinner together. Complimentary Lemoncella shots were the pallet cleanser of choice And Nikki featured a Wild Game Night. Our large (rather noisey) group was accomodated without hesitation for last night's festivities -- even though the restaurant was already full with reservations for the Feast of the 4 legged creatures -- and were offered 3 traditional dishes from the regular menu in addition to the feature, without ANY trouble. Whoever thinks they keep you waiting for 45 minutes before serving a cocktail - certainly isn't because they would 'Want' to keep YOU there any longer than possible. We have always been served (at the very least offerred) drinks within minutes of our arrival. It is now 4pm the day after our Party and I am still receiving call and emails complimenting the Quality of the Service, Atmosphere and Food from DiMarios. I can tell you one thing -- there wasn't 1 person who didn't depart with a fully satisfied tummy. And this my friends, is definitely Not the vino talking ............
After trying for 2 weeks to find a place to eat for our anniversary, a friend suggested this place to eat. Tt was a nice little place, great location, great food and atmosphere, the service was great (very respectible) and they gave complimentary brushetta and rolls with butter too. It was a nice experience and I would definitely go back again. My husband and I were quite impressed.
Been there many times. In my opinion best place in town. What I like is staff there is the same for as long as I can remember. Very personable and professional.
Personable service by young waiter and great wine knowledge. It was our first time and we will go back.
This food is fantastic, service outstanding and this is the only place the waiter actually remembers returned customers and what they liked before. Just Outstanding!!!!
An authentic Italian experience. We've been many times, tho too busy of late. Always very personable service, and food made to order, tho a little heavy at times on the marsala sauce. An excellent wine selection and knowledgable staff!
Our friends from Oakville said that this was worth the drive and we will all be going back again!
Best Italian Restaurant in Halton period. My wife and I visit this establishment on a regular basis. Good food, good service and a great wine list.
