Last weekend we were a party of 21 in the small function room beside the dining room. Our group was all ages from 18 - 80. Everyone ordered something different off of the menu from the sea food platter to the turkey dinner. Food was great; well prepared, hot, service was friendly. We were all very pleased. I've been here for dinner, and breakfast twice before - thank you for a great night - we'll be back :)
I am writing this review in response to the review of suicide may be an option. I think that the review should have started with once upon a time!! I have been to the village on many many occasions and have never seen a bug or a rodent. My parents are regulars and are there every Sunday and I can assure you they would not be if it was dirty and there where rodents running around. I hope that people do not believe some of the things they read. I personally think that you may not have enjoyed your experience but overdid the story by quite a bit.
We have been there a couple times, food is ok, thought to give it another chance since it is local. The cutlery is dirty, seen the same obnoxious waitress there both times. Wont be back.
My g/f and I love going here for breakfasts and lunches. Always good food and the service is usually very good. Have to wait for the bill a while though sometimes.
I do not know where the negative reviews come from for this restaurant. I have visited it in the past (for breakfast) and it was always a pleasure. Today was lunch with three friends and it was 'good food', 'great, attentive service from Lydja our server, and reasonable prices. Once again: a pleasure. TRY IT !!!
Since my wife and I moved to Stoney Creek we have wanted to like "The Village" because we love the idea of a place down the street we can go to any time. Unfortunately, this restaurant has done nothing to impress us. Today I sat around waiting 15 min. for my drink to arrive, enjoyed some luke-warm soup and had my main course brought to me before I was done with my app. The cheese on my grilled cheese wasn't melted and the smell of the greasey fries was enough for me to leave. I'll never visit the Village again. I think these guys have ridden on the fact that they're the only diner in town too long and have let their quality suffer as a result.
As a former employee there i noticed a huge change not only int he restaurant's enviornment but the food as well. I went there with my friends as a last minute evening plan for dinner. I told them it weas good comfort food and they would be impressed. I felt embaressed afte eating there that eveing. The waitress was very nice but did not seem as organized as usual. Working with her in the past I know how well organized she is. It took us about 10 minutes to get our menus andaout 10 minutes to order and get our drinks. We all ordered te same thing except for one person who ordered the clubhouse sandwich. All of us ordered the hot turkey sandiwch. Wewiated a long 1/2 hour for our food to come tot he table. I was not impressed as they were not busy at all. Our food was room temperature and our brocoli had turned yelloish borwn due to it staying int he steamer for too long. All in the end it was an enjoyable night. I do not knwo if i would go back for dinner but maybe breakfast.
Arrived on a Sunday at 11:30am. Seated right away but it took nearly a half hour for the server to take our order. As we waited another 45 minutes for our food, we had to flag down a server to get our coffees refilled. Nothing was wrong with the breakfast food and at least it was still warm when we got it. Left the restaurant at 1:15pm. Been here once before and had the exact same experience. Not likely to go back as the food was pretty average and not worth the wait.
I love The Village! We went for breakfast on a Sunday, so it was pretty busy. We made reservations do we didn't have to wait. The food was delicious and there was so much variety. I've never seen so much breakfast food! The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. The parking is kind of iffy, especially on Sunday mornings. We had to park at another store and walk over. It was a little pricey ($70+ for 7 people), but I think I'd go again for a special occasion.
Well my my father and I went there for dinner on a Sunday afternoon after soccer pratice and we were very impressed with the service but not so much with food. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich. The trukey was from a package you buy at a grocery store ready for you school sandwich. The gravy taszted like it was from a package andf it was cold. I HATE COLD GRAVY!!!!! But my fries were great. The bathrooms had a very strong smell of celaning supply... although i do appreciate them keeping the bathrooms clean. Although there was a poop stain on the door handle. I would go back again.
Normally we love this place for breakfasts....the best ever for everything, food quality, portion and price! Homemade for sure. The last time we went, our waitress smelled like cigarettes! Gross, she was outside for a smoke and no way washed her hands, came in and asked if there was anything else....umm...no thanks!! gross :(
I can honestly say that this is one of the better places to have a Sunday Brunch. Our family, and extended family celebrate birthdays, job success and Anniversaries here. Our party size ranges from 2- 20. We have always received GREAT service and food. Practically every sunday will find us at the Restaurant. The variety of food (both breakfast and lunch items) is fabulous when you have a family with varying tastes. We enjoy the atmosphere provided and we will ALWAYS come back!!! Just remember = special occasions (Easter, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc) MAKE RESERVATIONS. This place is a hot spot to go, and if you know that your party size is going to be more then 4 or 5 - its ALWAYS better to make a reservation. Thanks for all the good times!!! The Martins
The food was pretty good but there were bones in the sole which does occasionally happen and the pepper steak was a little lacking on the steak part. The server was incredibly friendly and kind however she was very busy and there was some delay in bringing food promptly. We've been to this restaurant a number of times and perhaps this was not the best they have to offer.
The resturant is great the food i great and parties are great.I had a surprise party for my cousin Jan and there were lots of people and our waiter Melinda was great.I ordered a Coca-Cola and the Chicken Fingers with French Fries and it was DELICIOUS!I give that resturant a thumbs up.It may of been my 1st time going there and I`m sure I`ll go back. The olny thing was it was a long time for the food but i`m sure it is alot faster with fewer people. The resutrant was queit bust that night and we had 25 people at the party.
Our waitress greeted my husband and myself as soon as we entered the resturant. We were seated in the first room at a booth, she handed us our menus and asked what we were having to drink. She returnd with our drinks and settings for our meal. The waitress looked very young and we were uncertain if she was experienced. She was completly on the ball and knew exactly what she was doing she was very friendly and had good eye contact. The food was great and we recieved what we ordered. Overall we were very satisfied with her service and will be coming back soon!
Serive and food was great! I did not have to wait long at all. There was always coffee in my cup and when I recieved the food with was extremely hot. I will being going there again.
very pleasant visit, very friendly staff, exellent food, we will be back
We frequent the restaurant at least twice a month and we have never had a problem with our food or service at all! everything is always delicious and on time. Staff are all welcoming and sweet.
I have always gone for breakfast on the weekends and wanted to try The Village for dinner. The escargot were a good size but found they were a little challenging to eat with the mushrooms that were diced as opposed to being stuffed in the whole mushroom cap. The main course was exceptional. The trout was cooked to perfection, not overdone at all. The vegetables were steamed to my liking. Still crisp but not lacking in flavour and colour. The roasted potatoes had a nice blend of seasoning. Very reasonably priced. The restaurant looks like an upscale fine dining establishment but has an easygoing, family friendly environment with the wait staff. They provide outstanding service. Always a pleasure to dine at this restaurant. I am very impressed every time I come here. I would definitely recommend The Village Restaurant breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We have never been to this place prior and we heard that it was a good place for a relaxing dinner. We thought that we would come here for our anniversary. Our appetizers were great and the julienne salad was truly tasty and there was enough for us both to have a few plates and still take some home. I felt that there could have been a LOT LESS green peppers in the pepper steak meal, seriously though, there was probably a full green pepper and a half on my plate that were cut simply to big to be appetizing. my girlfriend's grilled chicken was AMAZING..i would have been much more happy with that choice for myself. the waitress was friendly and checked up on us frequently. the apple crisp was tasty chilled rather than warmed, but couldve used a bit more ice cream. the raspberry sundae was to die for, the old fashioned presentation really topped off our whole meal. the atmosphere was very relaxing, and we had a very nice anniversary and also was very pleased with the overall dining experience, we will definatly be returning soon.
