    Great first time

Went here with friends. They been here before My wife and I had not. Our server ask if we been before and then helped us on some questions we had about the menu. Dave was very helpful with our decisions. He did not rush us and was very patient. Our english is not great but he was able to understand and help us with deciding. The wrap and roll platter was a great taste of different items and coconut shrimp was very good. We order many different dishes to try and share. Dave mentioned they were big portions and he was right. We had lots of leftovers for next day. The decor was very nice and relaxing. not very busy though. Look forward to coming back and enjoying another nice evening wih great food and service.

    FANTASTIC!!!

This was the best place to take a few friends. Lunch menu was great and a super price cheaper then your local burger joint. Service, was very good considering it was a little bit busy. Dave, you did a great job! We will add this to our regular go to lunch/dinner spot!

    Really Great!

This was our first visit to Mein Street and we were impressed! The decor is beautiful! The dining room was quite full when we arrived. We each ordered a different appetizer so we could share. The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Our entrees were quite large and served hot and fresh. The only complaint is that my son's noodles in his beef chow mein were too salty for his taste. My meal, the basil beef stir fry was good but too spicy for my taste (I don't like a lot of spice). My husband had the curry chicken and said it was one of the best meals he's had in a long time. The spring rolls are amazing! The beef and chicken satay was great! I loved the decor in the bathroom - beautifully decorated glass bowls for the sinks. We will definitely be back!

    Excellent Aps, Filling Mains

The appetizer assortment at Mein Street is excellent. My guest and I sampled several offerings and enjoyed them all. We were impressed with the quantity of food brought to the table as well. Our main dishes arrived in good time and were hot and tasty. I found the Singapore Noodle a bit dry and not generous with ingredients, but I still finished it and was quite satisfied overall. (I'll order something else next time).

with work, this could be a restaurant worth visiting

Three of us visited Mein Street on Thursday, 29 December, 2011 for lunch. The restaurant looked clean and tidy. We sat in a booth in the main dining room. The place was full, save one table for two. I was pleased to see that the draught beer was an Ontario Microbrewery - Hop City. Strange though, the menu said domestic drafts (sic) but included Samuel Adams which is a U.S. beer. The beer was listed as being 18 ounces which is smaller than a pint and upon being delivered, the glasses were at least two ounces short again because of excessive foam at the top. The price of these glasses of beer was $7.95. That is excessive. A pint of high quality ale like Black Oak Pale Ale runs about $2.50 cost for a pub or restaurant. Mein Street does not sell by the pint and charges $8. Quite a mark up. A glass of wine is also far too expensive. It would be in the interests of this restaurant to sell wine by the 1/2 litre also. The food? BBQ lemon grass chicken with a spring roll contained no lemon grass. The meal was served in a large bowl with lots of rice in the bottom and some chicken and pickled water chestnut on top as well as a deep fried spring roll. Bland. Not good. $12.95. Stir fried chicken black bean with green and red pepper and onion. A large bowl filled with rice vermicelli and topped with some chicken with black bean sauce on top. Very little flavour was experienced. $11.95. Red Curry with eggplant and bamboo shoots with rice vermicelli. Again rice vermicelli in the bottom of a bowl with some chicken and egg plant on top. This did have some flavour. $11.95. The waitress was pleasant and the floor manager was also quite amiable. It was the first visit to this restaurant and my brother was quite enthusiastic having visited it a few days ago to check it out before inviting us to accompany him. We were not pleased.

    Better than its' competitors

Contrary to some on-line reviews, welcome, service and atmosphere are excellent. Waiter was knowledgeable and observant. Of course, the food is NOT authentic - this is a creative fusion cuisine - but one gets a great m eal in a tremendous atmosphere. We know Asian food well and found the variations here interesting and palatable - worth a return visit!

    so disappointed in food!

Although the serving size was generous the pad thai was unauthentic and tasted nothing like pad thai. I've had better pad thai at a mall. Loved the atmosphere and the wait staff were great. I'd only go back for a drink - but not the lychee martinis...use Soho instead of lychee syrup Mein Street!

    Severly disappointed

My girlfriend and I decided to try the new chef and his awesome new menu. We've been before but months ago. The staff was friendly and our server Jordan was insightful, gave us our space but tended to our needs. I wish I could say the same about the food, and the management. We shared the basil beef, and our favorite dish from our previous visit, the butter chicken. The beef dish was minuscule in portion size. Not near enough to share. And the butter chicken wasn't even close to the same recipe. And not to mention cold from sitting in the kitchen. We tried to bring this matter up with a manager, who was Apparently too "busy" to come see us. There were 3 tables in the whole restaurant. Needless to say, very disappointing experience. If I heard there was new management, maybe I'd try again, but until then, no thanks. Signed, John and his disappointed girlfriend

nice building, terrible food and service

i have been 4 times now, and will never return. too bad as it is a beautiful building, but they should have spent some money on a chef and although they have nice people who seem interested in serving customers, for some reason the management has people intimidated and customers have them shell-shocked. lots of complaining around me each tie i have been there, and service-people seem unprepared and unequipped with dealing with unhappy customers. My last visit, our server said that we could complain, but no one cares - and she was embarrassed to say that. i wish it were good, as it looks good from the outside, and 4 poor-food and poor-service visits is a trend, not an anomaly. The people around me each time also seemed to agree!

    Date Night

So I title this date night... even though I had my six year old daughter with me. My Wife and I always go to the typical box stores with our daughter. But tonight we decided to go to Mein. Prior to this we thought the resturant was not for children. We sat in the lounge side, and were served very qucikly. The server informed us they did not have kids menus yet but outlined some kid friendly options. We ended up oredering the Mein Burger for my daughter with yam fries. My wife and I shared a edamoleh dip, salmon, and the pad siew. The bill came to 50 dollars and we had the fastest service and the food was incredible. We plan on taking a date night here without our daughter and enjoy a nice bottle of wine. Looking foward to coming back!

    It's About Time!

What a great place! I have eaten both lunch and dinner here on several occasions and had outstanding meals combined with excellent service. It is so nice to finally have a restaurant in London that serves really good Asian food, has a fun and modern atmosphere and a great wine list!

    mundane street

on a very recent dinner visit , my wife and I were amuzed by the clever, but busy contempoary interior decor, But a good restaurant must put good food on a plate to be really good. Mein Street failed on that. we started with cold rice paper wrapped beef rolls, with a very thick dip sauce, these rolls were as good as it would get. sorry no hot crisp rolls. we also had Pad Tai, mild, mundane and noodles tasted and looked more like italian fettucini pasta than Viet Pad Tai, like on flavor, very light on chicken, dullsville for sure, after that were served Butter Chicken, again dull, some rice and bits of hash brown potato and white sauce, and this was a really mild temprature , warm at best, we should have sent this back , but by now we knew were being served substandard food so wanted just to get out soon and reduce our money comittment already too high, wine was 8.95 a glass for an Arginitine red wine , that chicken was 14.00 or more?? why, was it reallly cooked by an experienced asian cook like so many good Viet and indian restauarants in LONDON ,or was a microwave meal plan in a food prep room ? all I can say is the Old regular places I go to for viet food weekly will be back on my routine , they maybe not so Up scale in the decor dept, but these guys need to put some good food in these wildly fun shaped china dishes , and turn on the lights too.

    Great Food and Bartender

My girlfriend and I have been to Mein Street about 3 times. Every time we sit in the bar and the bartender Ryan has served us. Without a doubt the best server around. He always remembers what we ordered previously. My girlfriend and I always stay for a few hours have a couple glasses of wine and some great food. Last night we enjoyed a Pad Thai, coconut shrimp, and new to the menu an edamoleh dip. The dip was amazing! Every time we go to Mein Street we have a very positive expereince. The bill on average for the 2 of us is aroun 80 dollars with 4 drinks and 3 dishes. We love it!

    Fast, Healthy, and Great Service

To be honest I have read mixed reviews on this resturant, and my wife and I have not had the chance to come in as we have been on a big health kick since New Years. Two weeks ago my wife and I decided to come in and check out this new fusion resturant. Our server explained that Mein Street was not a traditional asian resturant and all the dishes were different then that of a authentic, Indian, Thai, Chinese resturant. We informed the server that we were looking for healthier options as we had been on a restricted diet for 5 months. I dont expect resturants to have alot of healthy chocies but I just did not want to go for the dish with the most calories. My wife and I chose 3 dishes Singapore Slaw, Tom Yum Soup, and Panko Chicken. The food came out within 15mins. All of the dishes left us feeling satsified and not stuffed. The creative mix of flavours was excellent. The Tom Yum soup was enough to share between the 2 of us and was quite spicey ( definetly will order it again) Overall the bill for food was 30 dollars and we left feeling that we made a healthy choice and are looking foward to bringing friends in.

    Meh'n Street

Once through the doors I was reminded of the sculptures in the movie Beetlejuice. Metal beams intersecting from floor to ceiling. Interesting. Cold and uninviting but interesting. Thankfully, once we cleared the monolith the rest of the decor was beautiful. I enjoyed the natural lighting, comfortable chairs and classy, contemporary bar area. The restrooms are quite lovely as well! Our server greeted us with enthusiasm and on learning that this was our first visit gave us a thorough summary of what we could expect from our dining experience. We were told that we would enjoy a traditional Asian dining experience. This, she explained, meant that the portions were very generous and meant for sharing. I ordered a lychee martini and we perused the menu. We decided to share the Thai Beef Salad and the Almond and Pistachio crusted Bass. The bass was the first dish to arrive. Three white potato medallions with three tiny pieces of bass sitting atop. Disappointing. The highest priced entree on the menu and we had eaten it in less than three minutes. We both agreed that because it was the last item on the menu we expected a more substantial meal. The beef salad arrived shortly after. Now, I like to think I have a healthy understanding of the words "generous portions". I tout the benefits of sharing meals in restaurants to all of my wellness clients. But these. . . these were not portions to be shared. In the end we were both still hungry and decided to order the Pad Thai. Our appetite sated we discussed the taste of the food. It was pretty good. The bass was the least favourite. Not very much flavour and not very "asian fusion" in my opinion. The salad was tasty but nothing that I haven't made at home myself. The Pad Thai was unique. Fairly good flavours but the noodles were a bit sticky and this was made very noticeable by the absence of contrasting crunchy vegetables that you typically have in a Pad Thai. Bill arrives and with my martini and one glass of wine the amount owing was $60.00. I am not ruling this restaurant out but I do not think that you get good value for your money. Some people want a little pretentiousness with their food. I would prefer a little more food with my food. In my opinion they should rename the restaurant Meh'n Street.

    Don't Waste Your Money

My husband and I visited Mein Street Saturday late afternoon after reading the wonderful reviews about this new upscale asian cusine restaurant. Upon arriving the atmosphere and restaurant looked very upscale and appealing. Our server was very nice and quick. We ordered, wanting to try a variety of things, a tom yum soup for $8.00, a miso carmalized onion soup, mango salad, beef avacodo roll, coconut sprimp, and a main salmon rice dish. Our soup arrived first. The tom yum soup was probably the blandest, waterdown soup that we have every had and the miso soup was not much better. The miso soup was almost like a chicken broth. After telling the waitress she responded by saying "that's weird everyone says it is too salty" and walked away. Next out beef and avocado roll came out. It was a piece of rice paper stuffed with lettuce and a little bit of ground beef sprinkle on top. We did find one little sliver of avocado. This was $10.00. The coconut shrimp was $13.99 and recieved 6 medium size pieces of shrimp that were al little too deep fried and very very crunchy. The mando salad arrived with one sliver of mango on top but the salad was very refreshing and plentifull for a green salad but where was the mango. The waitress missed understood and didn't order us the salmon, so that was our meal. We were still hungry so decided to order a dessert. We ordered the mango pomagrante cheese cake for $8.00. The waitress informed us that they substituting the pomagrante for mixed berries which was fine. When the cheese cake arrived we gor a little slice, maybe 6 little bites total drizzles with fake mango syrup and 2 slivers of a strawberry. When we asked the waitress where the mixed fruit was she said the 2 slivers of strawberry was our mixed fruit. Our total bill came to $72.00 without tip. We paid our bill and the asked to speak to a manager. The manager then came and I proceeded to tell her about our meal. She told us we should have told our waitress as we tasted the food so the kitchen could fix it. We told her that we did and she just said that we weren't use to their way of cooking and it was upscale cuisine. We regularily dine out at Ben Thang, Wonder sushi, and various other asian restaurants in London. They are far better and less expensive than Mein Street. We left Mein Street and ordered a pizza as both my husband and I were still hungry. This has never happened at any other restaurant.

My husband, daughter and I tried Mein Street last night and were very impressed by the food, service, decor, etc. The server was friendly and very helpful. She didn't mind checking some ingredients since one of us doesn't eat port or dairy products. The cook was most accomodating and we certainly will be back. It's too bad about the location - in the middle of almost nowhere, but I guess with word of mouth they should be most successful

    Trendy Decor and good food

I've been here a few times on couples nights out. We always sit in the bar area because the dining room seems a bit utilitarian. We tried a variety of dishes and all of them were really good .. Honey Ribs were small but excellent! The various dishes didn't come to the table at the same time which was made it hard to share everything.
