Ottawa has a population nearing 1 million, which means our already densely populated urban city is becoming more crowded by the day.
While this increasing concretization can naturally reduce numbers in certain wild species, this is definitely not the case for raccoons, skunks, squirrels, bats and similar scavenging-type animals!
Raccoons in particular are known to seek out urban comforts readily available with un-lidded trash cans, outdoor cat food dishes, warm and cozy worksheets and attics and backyard water features. The living is easy when you are a city raccoon where your only major predator is people!
