Ever dream of playing tennis in really posh digs? The chance can be yours for far less than you’d think at the Granite Club, one of the city’s oldest sport and social clubs. It dates back to 1875 and has kept most of its old-world charm intact. Their facility features 12 Har-Tru (crushed stone) courts, four red clay courts and eight green clay courts, with nine of those bubbled for winter play. And when you’re ready to raise your game a notch there are 12 teaching pros for everyone from novice to expert.
Founded in 1875, the Granite Club hosts a family-oriented and inviting atmosphere. With gorgeous grounds and impressive facilities for members of all ages – including an upscale dining room, bistro and bar – the club caters to athletes of all ages, interests and skill levels. The Granite Club boasts aquatics, badminton, curling, fitness, golf and skating facilities, but the modern squash courts are a dream-come-true for squash enthusiasts. The club offers a wide range of squash programs including social, instructional and competitive leagues. There are two doubles courts and five singles courts on-site.
One of the most prestigious clubs in the city, the Granite Club also offers one of North York's best pools. Housed in a glass complex with floor-to-ceiling windows and a retractable roof, the Granite Club pool is more of an oasis than a swimming pool. With two six-lane, 25-meter pools, a whirlpool, kid pool, and activity splash pool, you can do everything here – well, except cannon ball off a high dive. Membership is prestigious and costly compared to other swimming pool gyms.
