Great delivery service. Get way more bang for your buck than ordering in pizza from somewhere. The family deal is where it’s at!

I have always had a great meal when dining in, but takeout, I find the portions smaller even though they are the same price.

The food was great, the service was great except the LONG wait for our food!!!Three out of the four times we have been there we have waited from 70 min to 80 min for our meals.this is NOT exaggerated. What we gather is that you run short of chicken and if it would happen once would be one thing but it's just been too often in a short time!We can only come in now when we know we have all evening to be there.

    Ordered quarter c...

Ordered quarter chicken dark with kettle chips instead of fries. Only got chips. Corrected to add chicken. Got white meat. Took it to kitchen for dark meat. Chicken was pink and red. Asked to send back and was out of time for lunch. Management fought back with saying it is fine and produced the record of tests from the spit. I did not eat it at all and returned to the kitchen. Asked it be removed from the bill. Manager fought back again with the bedside manor or a toddler told he has to go to the corner. GM finally came out as it was clear there was no resolution and removed it from the bill. Needless to say after having worked for Swiss Chalet in the past at another location, this one has shown me exactly how to never operate in business. As a side note the kettle chips are nice and light but lack in flavour.

    Beyond pathetic,...

Beyond pathetic, that sums up Owen Sound Swiss Chalet. I ordered a pickup of four quarter chicken meals. I waited and waited for over thirty minutes during a lightening storm at the drive through after a fifteen minute drive into town. They then told me to wait in the back of the restaurant because others behind us were honking and becoming restless in the drive through. After waiting another 30 minutes they told us they were out of food. P.S it was like pulling teeth to get our money back.

    If you order the ...

If you order the quarter chicken dinner in Owen Sound (white meat)you may find that you do not get a full portion anymore, something lesser than an actual "quarter" chicken dinner. If you do not receive what is "advertised" please voice your concerns to staff.

Don’t be put off by the unprepossessing Quonset hut, unpaved driveway with pretensions of becoming a parking lot, the rural discard dump in the orchard at the rear, an unfinished interior all of which greet you. The warmth of the welcome, the excellent service and generally very good food will quickly dispel any doubts about why this unique restaurant, in the proverbial “middle of nowhere”, has been a food draw for years. The menu (better organised on their website‎) is physically scattered on an unco-ordinated myriad of small, sponsored blackboards that cover one wall and the bar area and takes some time to read and digest lest one miss something. Not all of the exotic meats for which this restaurant is noted will be available on any one night (no kangaroo or crocodile yesterday) but there will enough to make your selection adventurous. In addition to this untraditional fare, there are lots of tried and true items from farm and field, lake and ocean. And, with a few mis-steps, it’s really good stuff! The appetizers, for once of proper appetizer size and not a “meal-for-six” as at some restaurants were the lesser in quality. While the mussels got a 7/10, the scallops were overcooked and stringy; the garlic bread was nice but the $13 alligator strips were just ok, rather undistinguished and the accompanying plum sauce was bottle-bland. Entrees were the strength however. The tasty and meaty double lamb shanks were heartily demolished, the seafood bake scrumptious but needed a little kick. The two of us who had the ostrich medallion raved about the tender, perfectly cooked, flavourful, substantial meat, the dark, pungent gravy and the unique stir-fry veggie mix. The crowning glory of my meal though, was a huge, decadently dynamic, full-on, loaded, double-baked potato…$4 extra and worth every cent. Desserts are locally made with a varied selection, the wine list bare bones but adequate (2 reds, 2 whites). A nice quaffy surprise awaits with the, unusual for this part of the world, rich, full-bodied Granville Island ale on tap, redolent of the glories of the west coast, Vancouver style. Overall, certainly not cheap and a drive from most anywhere (I’m an hour and a half away) but worth the dollars and the miles. And a return visit. Check the website for days and hours of operation.
