Horrible service. Inattentive and imperious waitstaff/owner. No idea of the food as we left after bring ignored after one hour!
Rude staff. Service was slow. Wouldn’t give me a wine list. Ordered an appetizer that was cold and disgusting. Didn’t feel welcome and wish I never tried the place
Second visit. Pizza was good the first time, but this time the food and service were mixed/poor. Service was slow. Server kept forgetting things. Appies were yummy. Duck ragu/pasta had hardly any ragu; no cheese was offered. They added more sauce on request, but overall the dish remained uninteresting. Tablemate said the daily special was blah. Dessert was not what I thought I'd ordered. Overall not worth returning. There are so many many better restaurants in town, so we will visit them.
Over rated, over priced are the terms that immediately come to mind after having dinner there in a group of 11 for a family celebration. While the food itself was good, everything else was average. There were no house wines and what they had was substantially over priced. Given the size of the group, a gratuity to the bill which was extremely generous to themselves - way more generous than I would have been! I forget my key rule when it comes to occasions like this: only go to known and proven restaurants for family celebrations.
This is a low lit, romantic, swish place. Not too big, and sometimes not too busy due to its location I think. But its a secret that a few people I have met RAVE about. Good italian food is not difficult, it's just about the ingredients and l'amore. These dishes I had were outstanding, and you know that feeling when it surprises you?! I can't wait to go back.
The restaurant itself has a cozy yet sophisticated ambience. Sadly, based on last night's visit, this was the only good thing about the restaurant. Firstly, the waiter kept rushing us to order. He must have come to us about 3 times in the space of 15 minutes and wasn't the most polite. In addition, he was less than curt when asked to recommend drinks and appetizers. When the food finally arrived it was pretty bland. Not the best italian food that I have had. To top it all off, he took an extremely long time to attend to us after our meal so it took forever to get our dessert orders in. And to our surprise he returned and told us that unfortunately they were all out of the dessert we had ordered!! This seemed quite odd so on leaving the restaurant we called just to see if they had any of the dessert left and they did. Go figure!! I am really sorry that we didn't get the waiter's name though. Needless to say, my friends and I won't be returning to Bar Mercurio again.

Bar Mercurio’s Tonna Ahi Al Nachos ($16) offer a sophisticated take on the usually casual appetizer with ahi tuna, crispy wantons, avocado relish, truffle aioli, cilantro pesto and a spicy Kochujang sauce.

Despite having been on the scene since 1997, this restaurant is one of the better-kept secrets in the neighbourhood. If you come by often enough to enjoy a nice glass of wine, you'll probably meet the owner, Giuseppe.
