Meet the owner

For Katrina Reynolds, owner of Matter of Time, running a vintage and antique collectibles store was in her blood. “My father has owned a few of these kinds of stores since before I was born. We lived in the back, so I grew up around the industry,” she says. “I’ve been working in this environment since a young age.”

But by her mid-20s, Katrina was eager to venture out and have a shop to call her own. It’s a trait that seems to run in her family. “My father was about 18 or 19 when he started his own shop,” she says. “I guess we’re both early starters.”

Katrina’s father, Steve, founded Matter of Time, but Katrina took over the shop. “We find our stuff all over, but we just might be the tiniest antique shop in Toronto,” she says. “And because we aren’t in a 3000-square-foot warehouse, we can pass those savings on to our customers. Even though we do sell wholesale to other businesses in the industry, we offer the same pricing to all our clientele.”

You won't find a friendlier antique dealer in the city. Keep your eyes peeled when you visit for their extensive front window displays, and make sure you go all the way to the back of the store so you can check out the hidden second aisle.
