The third location of Sukhothai finds a home on Dundas West near Ossington. Thai menu options include spring rolls, creamy coconut soup, rice, curries and noodles. Dishes are served with varying degrees of hot spice.
"It all started on an elephant," or so goes the Regular family legend that would eventually beget sukhoTHAI and the new high-end venture Pai. Jeff Regular was travelling in Thailand when he found himself on a precarious elephant ride with a beautiful stranger, one Nuit Regular, a Thai nurse. A few years later the two had opened a quaint little grub hub called the Curry Shack.
Now the family runs a veritable Thai food empire here in Toronto. In 2008, Papa Vincente Regular, his two business-savvy sons Joel and Jeff, and his daughter-in-law Nuit Regular opened sukhoTHAI’s first location on Parliament Street to rave reviews. Since then, new gems sporting the same adorable elephant logo have been cropping up about town. Thanks to Nuit's passion for flavour and the Regulars' undeniable business sense, it seems that the iron throne of curry may be forever spoken for in Toronto.
This place is the greatest. Although it takes a long time to get a hold of them when making delivery orders and typically a 1 hour + wait, it's worth the wait. Best pad Thai in Toronto for sure. Also enjoy the Panang curry and cashew chicken.
The romantic story behind Sukhothai began in northern Thailand. Owner Jeff Regular was riding an elephant when he met the girl of his dreams, Nuit, a fabulous cook. In 2008, they got married, moved to Canada, and opened a Thai restaurant in Toronto. Today, their wildly successful franchise has three locations. The Little Portugal outpost is much-beloved in the west end, hosting traditional Thai favourites like shrimp rolls, pad Thai and curries, all ready for delivery to your front door.
