New to Montreal, Jacob Gerbi’s 20 years of living in Tahiti and French Polynesia come through in his secondhand and vintage shop Brocante Blow Up Vintage. “I wanted to come to a city, French speaking, but somewhere with actual seasons. You can always vacation in the sun, but spending every day in it can get a little aggravating!”
Having run vintage shops and boutiques, Jacob hasn’t brought the balmy island weather to Montreal, but has brought his decades of experience to bear in his venture, founded in late 2014. Above all, his goods are well-crafted or collectors’ items, sought after, and conscious of a long history of branding. “It’s important to bring out the quality of vintage goods — there’s a classic branding that people will always love.”
