Confections Sparkles

Since opening shop in 2006, Sparkles Confections has been making Monkland Village a sweeter place. Located in the heart of the neighbourhood, visitors step into the store's building, head down a flight of stairs and open a door to be transported into a kid’s wonderland. But make no mistake, this candy shop is not just for kids — adults are sure to find their candy fix here as well.

At Sparkles Confections customers will find a wide selection of candies including favourites and hard-to-find retro sweets. The shop also accommodates other needs including gift baskets and decorations for parties and baking.

The store’s owner, Claire Himo, is sweet as sugar and keen to share her love of Monkland Village, which, she says, "holds a special place in my heart.” A former resident of the neighbourhood, she once lived above Sparkles Confections and chose to open up shop in the area because of its uniqueness. Claire sees Monkland Village as a safe, friendly and charming community with many families and children (an important demographic when it comes to selling candy). Residents often go for walks in the area and stop by for some treats to fulfill their sugar cravings.
