Michel Fournelle founded Lutherie MF in 1982. Located on rue Guizot in the Villeray district of Montreal, the studio specializes in the manufacture of guitars and basses.
Michel started out as a musician and played in rock bands between the ages of 16 and 21. He began working at La Tosca music to pay for his instruments, and eventually learned how to repair guitars.
"I saw an opportunity in the fact that many musicians wanted their instruments repaired and there weren't many people that could help them at the time," he says. Six years later, Michel launched the Harmoni-Lab workshop with a friend, an adventure that lasted more than nine years and culminated in the founding of Lutherie MF.
I taught myself guitar on my fathers old Beltone - an unusual hybrid classical with steel reinforced neck. Michelle restored it beautifully and recommended Thomastik strings which work perfectly with this particular guitar. Played it just yesterday and it coaxed three new songs out of my imagination :-)
Je leur ai confié une guitare classique puis un charango. Dans les deux cas, mes instruments sont passés à une qualité supérieure - et au-delà de mes attentes. Et cela, pour un prix plus que raisonnable.
