“When I bought this place in March of 2014, I decided I would set a new direction for it,” says Hai Au Lam, owner of Ocean Sushi. Hai’s youth belies a seeming calm deep set in his experience having prepared sushi at both take-out and high end restaurants and taking from that a vision of what he wants Ocean Sushi to be.
“Of course, when you work in a take-out place, people rarely feel comfortable in the restaurant or want to stay there. When you have a fancier establishment, things may be a little better, but they’re still too expensive for most people to come regularly and enjoy the variety a menu might have,” says Hai. “What I love about this is that I can not only make my own decisions and be my own boss, which was my goal from the start, but I can give people something in the middle. I can make something for everybody!”
