Boasting a lively tradition of excellence, the School of Music Vincent d'Indy occupies a privileged place among the educational institutions in the country music instead. Its origins date back to 1920, when Sister Mary Stephen (Hélène Côté) directed a musical curriculum in all teaching of the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary houses. Twelve years later, in 1932, she founded the Graduate School of Outremont music, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts at the University of Montreal.
