It’s hard to find anything to dislike about this place, no matter how hard you nitpick. They have 65 hitting stations, 15 of which are covered for year-round driving; the surface is a combination of turf and grass; practice balls are switched up during the season so you’re always hitting with fresh ones; and a jumbo basket of balls is roughly the cost of a movie ticket. Round out your game on the putting green with a laser-measured target green.
Golf may be a distinguished sport that sticks to tradition, but this place has leapt far into the future by offering technologically advanced golf simulators. You can practice driving in just about any location you want, choosing landscapes such as the mountains or a desert. Each time you swing, the simulator measures data like distance, club speed/path and spin so you can improve as efficiently as possible. And, they have daily specials to help bring down your score even faster.
Winter and miserable weather may happen to the rest of Toronto but inside the dome here, you’re always golfing in perfect weather. The dome is a whopping 53,000 heated square feet, with 46 driving stations and the best balls in the industry. Along with regular specials, you can also save money with the Value Card, which lets you practice during prepaid range times. If the driving stations are busy, head to one of the simulators instead.
They’ve been around since 1995 and have established themselves as one of the GTA’s top driving ranges. Located in Ajax, Fox Run supplies you with Top-Flite range balls from Callaway Golf and rental clubs if you don’t have your own. Depending on how you did, reward yourself or drown your sorrows in their fully-licensed café after finishing the 18th hole.
Golf is a popular sport, especially when the weather’s nice — suddenly fancies themselves to be Jack Nicklaus. Luckily, for aspiring stars, Devil’s Den has elevated tee decks so there are virtually no waiting times. Hitting stations are either grassed (north-facing) or grassed and matted (south-facing), with an end goal of 450 yards – if you can reach it. There’s a putting green where you can fine-tune your short game, with rough grass and bunkers to really challenge you.
Having a nice view is one of the most important things when choosing a driving range and BraeBen has two different ones. It’s a double-ended driving range, giving you the option of either driving as part of The Academy at BraeBen or as a public golfer on the main course. There’s artificial turf and two-tiered bent grass tee decks, so you’re equipped with perfect conditions where all you have to do is swing accurately.
It’s one of the most prestigious golf clubs in the country, and the staff have worked hard at extending the quality everywhere, including the practice facility. The atmosphere is intense here, so dress appropriately and prepare yourself to really work hard on all aspects of your game.
