An out of the way little house that looks like a local take out pizza joint. Walk in and there are a few tables. Sit down and order and get some of the best Italian food I have had in Ottawa. Ask what the special is, you never know. We stared wit a sausage appetizer that is to die for, flavorful and spiced just right. There were 6 of us so we all ordered different things and tried each others. There was not a loser in the bunch. Skip the insalata, it is just greens on a plate. The veal picatta was outstanding and the pastas were great. Get the house wine, the night we were there it was a very good valpolicella. I am new to the area and have slowly been experimenting with the various eateries in and around Ottawa and area. I happened upon Wakefield and stopped into Le Hibou on a whim. The chef, Keith Garrison, is the best thing to happen to place. I don't know exactly when he started but the difference in food quality from this time last year to now is staggering! Least of all is the fact that they have meat dishes there now. They absolutely hit the jackpot with him. Everyone in Wakefield needs to know his name; search him out. Since he started I have been there for a late lunch once and supper a couple of times and have not been disappointed. He even came out and chatted with me (along with the other customers) once.
