The food was great, very tasty wings, a large variety of taste. The portion was fair accoring to the price. The atmosphere was excellent, very friendly staff, the waitress, I think her name Anna Lisa was outstanding, very friendly always smiling and on the ball. A great place to go and eat, have a beer and enjoy yourself.Read more

Change did Mom's good. Not sure who the new owners are, but we only went back because we heard the old ones were gone. The biggest difference, these people care, my breakfast was fast, hot, and very good. I went to college up the road, and after being treated poorly repeatedly by the previous owners, I said I would never go back. Well, am I ever glad I did. This is my new favorite breakfast spot in Barrie. Love it. Great job Mom's!!!!Read more

Stopped in on Canada Day after the raining parade. 3 kids in tow. We had heard they had great pizza so decided to stop. My kids have only eated chain pizza once or twice in their lives and it's greasy cardboard so we don't even bother. This was a marvelous find! Hands down best pizza I've ever had... next to this place in Lewiston NY 10 years ago LOL Seriously, the Thin crust, and homemade sauce is something else! There aren't many places in the area where one can get fish & chips, unless they drive to Barrie and go to Fancies Fish & Chips. Blue Water Fish & Chips is a small restaurant with a tired decor. Mind you there are historical photos of boats that have travelled Georgian Bay & the Great Lakes and are interesting to look at..
We love the halibut served here. While the portion size is small it is extremely tasty, with mild tasting halibut and a golden batter. After the second or third bite you can taste & feel the grease but isn't that to be expected with deep fried fish? I've never eaten fish & chips that I haven't tasted the grease.
We hate it when the restaurant is closed for vacation. We love eating here and they even have lots of newspapers and reading material for those of us that prefer to read while we're eating.
All we've ever ordered has been the fish & small chips or else we'll order 2 fish and a small chip each and we never go away hungry.Read more

We dined at the Siamese Gecko last evening for our anniversary. The menu had plenty of options, you could choose from curries, stir frys, and soups. After each meal title, there is a ranking of how spicy the dish is starting at not spicy going up to very, very spicy. I chose item 25-2 (sorry, the name escapes me) because it was under the very, very spicy and it certainly was. Even with my tongue on fire, there was an amazing amount of flavour. It was served on a platter with chicken, green beans, sweet red pepper, Thai basil, kaffir lime and crushed hot peppers. My wife had a squash curry that was delightfully creamy and the squash melted in your mouth. It was a non spicy dish with some sweetness in it and again, plenty of flavour. The prices are excellent, most dishes range from 9.99 to 11.99 and we both brought home half of our dinners. Meals do not come with rice or noodles, they are extra. However it was only 1.99 for a bowl of rice that was more than adequate and the whole cost of the meal was very affordable. Service was adequate, the restaurant was clean including washrooms. We both highly recommend!Read more

Not only the best breakfast in the area, but the best value. (Especially if you are a senior.) 2 good sized eggs, 4 strips of bacon, texas toast and home-fires not frozen cubes. I get a side of hot peppers and coffee. For two of us .... just over $11.00 with tax!! (If you aren't a senior it would come to around $12.50)
Never had a problem with any of the waitresses. Food is cooked properly. Atmosphere is the usual R&R diner that plays a good selection of 50's & '60's music.
You can go a few blocks away and pay $16 for a lot less!

I spend most weekends in Collingwood. I've eaten in many restaurants in the area, but haven't been to the Post in a while. The last time I was there was under the old ownership and couldn't believe how bland the food was, and how dirty and unkept the restaurant was. I counted no less than 5 dead flies on the window sills. I previously had the baked penne carbonara and it had no flavour. The waiter told me they used 2 % milk instead of cream ! I heard there were new owners and decided to give it a try last week with my husband and two friends. The place was spotless (and no dead flies !), service incredible and one of the best meals we've all had in a while. We especially loved the curry and halibut & chips, and pasta. Amazing desserts ! We will all definitely go back.Read more
