I lived in Toronto for 5 years prior to coming back home to Windsor. I was craving Korean food and decided to have a small birthday celebration with my family at Windsor Seoul. It was GREAT! I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never been to the restaurant prior to making reservations. The staff was incredibly kind and hospitable. The menu has a great selection of Korean food and Korean/Japanese fusion dishes. We started our meal with a selection of their hot teas which were divine. Instant love in a cup! We were then greeted with our side dishes followed shortly by our delectable meal. Delicious! Our side dishes and drinks were refilled as we enjoyed our food, each others company and the atmosphere. The K-pop (Korean music videos) playing on the HD TV added nicely to the cultural atmosphere. It has a very warm, welcoming feel to it (including a cute surprise if it's your birthday as well ;). I felt very much at home here (and I'm not Korean). If you are craving great Korean food at an affordable price and a relaxing, enjoyable, charming atmosphere for yourself, friends and family I strongly recommend Windsor Seoul! I will always remember what I had for dinner the first time my parents brought me to the Cook's Shop. It was the Chicken Diablo - a whole, large chicken, butterflied with a spicy sauce. The server commented that it was "bigger than me" and I might not be able to eat it all. I proved her wrong! SInce then, I have made many trips to this little place and most of the time I still end up with the chicken. My girlfriend feels the same way about the Angus Scallopini. On our last visit, the "garnish" (as they call it), was an order of spagheti in marinara sauce. In most places, this "garnish" could have been dinner! I will never stop coming here. The food is great. The wait staff are super nice and accommodating. And the one waiter who always seemed to be in a hurry is now gone - (some people will find that a relief, but I must say he waited on us a couple of times and it wasn't too bad). Butternut squash soup was tasty, grilled shrimp had a nice kick (from the chili oil), hand-made gnocchi was surprisingly light (a great appetizer that was a special of that night), grilled beets with spiced pecans and goat cheese was unusual yet delightful, lamb shanks (also a special that night) was tender but the sauce was quite overwhelming, and of course, the maple cheesecake was delicious (yet not too sweet). Overall, we felt the food, service, price, portions and ambiance was perfect. Duane (our server and the manager) is entertaining and knowledgeable with wine pairings. Ryan is a terrific chef and it's obvious that he puts much care when preparing the food. We look forward to dining at Mamo Bistro again soon. Read more
