1. Move your feet in line

Instead of standing stationary in line while you wait to hit the ball, keep your feet moving the entire time. Shift from toe to toe like you would when you are waiting to return a ball during a match. This will keep your heart rate boosted and give you an incredible workout. Additionally, it will also help you prepare for the necessary footwork you should have during your tennis matches.

2. Go to a cardio clinic

Many tennis centres across the world offer tennis group lessons that are devoted to giving players a cardio work. These are often called cardio tennis clinics. At the clinics, the pros will lead participants in drills that are particularly trying in terms of movement and endurance, and they'll naturally give a good workout. In addition to tennis drills, many cardio tennis clinics also include pure conditioning drills, where pros have players run and work on their footwork.

3. Pick up balls

Tennis clinics often have to stop because baskets run out of balls and players have to break and go to the other side of the court to collect them. Rather than wait until the pro takes a break and invites players to pick up balls, grab a hopper and pick up balls instead of waiting in line. This will help you get stronger and keep your heart rate up, and it will also help the general ball-pickup process go quicker so you can get back to playing.

4. Run for every ball

You should do this when you play anyway, but when you're fed or hit a ball at a group tennis lesson, make sure you go after it — even if it's way out of your reach and there's no way you can get to it. This will not only improve your workout, but also up the chances that you'll be able to get to that ball the next time.
