If there is one restaurant that I absolutely love in Saint John, it's Thandi's! The atmosphere is authentic, charming and relaxing. The food is amazing, always hot and cooked just right. The service is suberb. I suggest going on New Year's Eve if you want a true "tails" experience.
The evening started out great. There was only few couples in the restaurant. The appetizers were great! Our main showed up which was pricy seafood platter. Wow ! The meal cold not even warm !!! The seafood appeared to have all been steamed together ??? We were not impressed. The other dish, an Indian dish was only warm. We were very dissapointed!!! Very pricy !!! We won't be back.
A good place and must visit one, if someone loves Indian food. Good food served in apt ambience. I ordered Shrimp Goan which was served with Rice and Roti (bread). Everything was really superb. I really could not find any difference between the taste one finds in India and at this place.
Having moved here from Vancouver ( a year ago), we've not yet had one meal at a restaurant that could even compare to the caliber we're used to...until now! My husband brought me here for my birthday and it was superb! Fantastic service and we loved the warm, cosy decor with the dark woods, soft lighting, etc. While I can't recall the names of our dishes - each were fabulous. We shared an appey that were veggies in a crispy batter and the dipping sauce was unbelievably yummy! My hubby had a lamb and rice dish that he enjoyed (though he has had better) and I had the most incredible stir fry I'd ever eaten. It was so good in fact, that I'd more than likely order it on our next visit - even though I like to try new things. (I'll have the calmari next time!) My stir fry had pork, chicken and huge shrimp. The sauce and noodles were scrumptious and the veggies were cooked perfectly - bright colors and nice and crisp! We each had a couple of beers and by the end of our meal were too full to try dessert. We both look forward to going back!
We were so excited to have a good authentic Indian meal and we were so disappointed. The NAN bread is actually PITA bread and the meals tasted like they came from bottles.
