Just picked up lunch today 11/16/16 around 11:45am, picked up the Miso Soup, Spicy Crab roll and the China roll. All I have to say is WOW! Just blown away! Such yummy food have nothing bad to say but this is a must go to place here in London located on Wellington Rd near SouthDale Rd.
Since the ownership change in December 2011, the quality has gone downhill. It's just not the same and very disappointing.
We stopped in here after hearing maybe great reviews from friends and family. We ordered the Love Boat B and edamame. The Love Boat was huge -- lots of tuna, salmon, rolls, and really hot wasabi. The fish was super fresh and the quality outstanding. We were a little disappointed with the service -- although very polite and accomodating our waitress never came by to ask if we wanted more to drink or anything else (like extra ginger) She also forgot to include the spicy mayo we requested. Nevertheless it was fun. The cute booths are nice and the atmosphere itself very enjoyable. The meal came with soup and salad, both very good. It was rather expensive and for excellent sushi at a great price we will still go to Green Tea on Richmond but this place was nice for a change.
We had the hibachi scallop special and from the first bite, we knew we were in for a treat. Moments later our deluxe "sushi A" sampler came to the table. The fish was fresh and tasty, the sticky rice seasoned appropriately. As this was our first time, we tried to sampler in order to get an idea as to what to expect from other sushi on the menu. It was predictably tame, unfortunately, but the quality was superb. We'll be back to try a little of the more 'daring' varieties on the menu - although admittedly, their selection is more modest than I'd like. They do offer shabu-shabu on the menu, though, something a little more difficult to find outside of a major metropolitan area. We'll had to give that a try one day, too. A nice place to take company, I think, if they're into sushi.
This place is amazing - probably the best quality sushi in London. The service, however, is always slow - there's never more than one person making the sushi, even during the busy times. The private booths are definitely a plus, and the spicy rolls are ACTUALLY spicy, unlike most places. I'd probably eat there weekly if it wasn't so horribly overpriced.
My husband and I finally tried this restaurant after driving by it a few hundred times. That was at least 5 years ago. Now we are regulars there and always go when we want quality sushi. I myself work all over the continent and have tried many sushi places. This is one of my favourite places and it’s right in my home town. The three dishes I mentioned as my order are always fabulous. I have brought many friends here and they were all impressed and want to go back for lunch. The staff is so friendly. They gave us a free sample of a roll that we hadn't tried last time we were there. They always recognize us and say hello. My only criticism is the condition of the bathrooms downstairs. They are clean, but it would really help if they updated them. Other than that I would highly recommend someone trying this restaurant. We will continue going back regularly.
We went here on Canada's day because we were craving some sushi and decided to give this restaurant a try from the abundant number of good reviews seen on this site. We were truly disappointed at our food. As sushi buffs, we have had our share of unbelievable and poor quality sushi. This would rank closer to the poor side. The rice had too much vinegar to begin with and the soy sauce was not of the quality expected in a standard westernized sushi restaurant. The price would have been fair if the sushi was good, but it was not. We will not be returning.
Take is our staple at valentine's day, the food is great and a lot, and the service is pretty good. The booths are great for privacy and to shut out some of the usual restaurant noise. The problem of the restaurant is that it needs some tlc and updating. It shows it's age a bit. Still, we've been there many times and will continue to go back. In all our times going there we've only had one bad experience, because they were being really slow, but it was only the once and they seem to have fixed things because on Valentine's day they were pretty packed and we still got all of our food in a really reasonable time. When I weigh the pros and cons this is still a restaurant that I will keep on my list of good food finds in town.
Food was good, service was pretty good (server elbowed a couple of diners in the head trying to get the bbq lit when it was malfunctioning - not a big deal, just not alot of attention to service.) The entire menu is WAYYYYY overpriced. Nothing on that menu approaches being worth what is being charged. Certainly not in a restaurant that hasn't been updated since the 80s. I LOVE the idea of private rooms, but if you can't be bothered keeping them modern, at least keep the cheap wood paneling clean! The rooms missed the mark on quaint and were just shabby. Again, the food is really good and if you don't mind being overcharged for dining in a old run down restaurant then by all means, try it out - you'll enjoy your meal at least. I can't help thinking there is better value elsewhere in London, though.
I wake up in the night craving their philadelpha rolls. best sushi ever!
wonderful! My friend had just got back from a business trip to tokyo and felt like reliving the experience at home. We tried this restaurant (recommended by a japanese coworker of mine) and according to my friend as good as in japan. Very fresh sushi the best I've ever had and the service was wonderful. The restaurant was like a traditional japanese restaurant (private booths..really great felt like we were'nt in Canada for lunch.
The most authentic Korean and Japanese restaurant you will find in London. Experience Korean barbecue--it is such a neat idea! You cook the meat over a coal grill in a private tatami room with just your guests. Will definately come back again!
The Korean dishes were very tasty and flavourful! The service was friendly, but very slow because apparently it was a busy night.
