Hey Lucy's is under new management and they have really stepped up the service. I haven't been there in almost a year... They still have the same 3.99 martinis on Wednesday night with the same selection but the service is 100% better. They have completely renovated the whole top floor of the bar! it looks amazing! perfect place to book a private party. I was VERY impressed with the turn around in food quality as well as the over all feel and new look. HIghly recommend giving Hey Lucy another shot! my group was very impressed, we will be back.

Good food, service and nice setting.

The owner, sitting at the table next to us at the patio alone having a few drinks told me and my friend(we're 16) that it was a great night to get drunk. Sort of made us feel uncomfortable but he didn't bother us. Overall, the restaurant was very nice, service was quick, waitress/hostess were friendly and the food was great.

Okay

Sat, Oct 18th, around 7pm The place was not quite full. Seated quickly which was great. I personally liked the decor. Atmosphere was casual, a little alternative for a restaurant. Utensils, glasses, plates we were served with were spotless. Didn't use the washroom so I can't comment on that. Open concept kitchen - if you're sitting near the back you can see the woodfire stove and all of the action. Those are the highlights. Waitress was friendly initially but quickly seemed to lose interest. Was a bit out of it, maybe, or just 'ditzy'. I asked was what the special was, she acted clueless and ran off to find out if there was one. 10 minutes later she came back to let us know that there wasn't one. Friends ordered pop, I ordered water to drink. I got my water right away, she went back for pop & with the 2 drinks in her hand walked the opposite direction of where we were sitting. Finally 'found' us. We considered leaving as the outlook wasn't promising but stayed. Placed our orders-she didn't write them down but verbally confirmed them several times and passed on to the kitchen. Garlic bread appetizer took apr. 15 mins, but we had to remind her about it. Had been ready for about 5 minutes, she'd forgotten to deliver it then she just set it down and walked away without saying anything. Throughout the night she seemed to do a lot of walking back and forth through the place without checking in. Took another 10-15 for our entrees, they arrived at different times. A male waiter/busboy brought the first entree (bolognese) along with another entree that wasn't for our table at all. He was very friendly though and had a big smile & good attitude but his English wasn't perfect so a few questions we asked about our meals sort of went unanswered. Other 2 entrees arrived about 5 minutes after. I thought the food was tasty and the pasta dishes were nicely portioned, but the grilled calamari was TINY! Looked completely out of place with the other dinners. The fried calamari appetizer had more bulk to it (I saw it on another customer's table). My male friend was very disappointed. We mentioned this to the waitress who finally came over as we were done eating, she brought this to the attention of a man who I assume was the manager. He came to our table and informed us that he would take the dish off the bill and as well offered my friend a choice of salad. He took a greek salad which was very generously portioned and he really enjoyed. If the grilled calamari entree came with a choice of salad such as this, it would have more value for the money and would be more appropriate to call a meal. A small piece of garlic bread with the pasta dishes would be nicer too. We wrote our comments on the back of the receipt. I hope that they took them seriously and will use them to better the restaurant. My friends both agreed that they wouldn't return to Hey Lucy. I might go back because I appreciated the atmosphere, and some of the service.

I expected better

I have to Hey Lucy's many times in the past, however, not in several years now, and I was very disappointed to see how it has deteriorated. We made reservations for a Saturday night, but when we arrived there was no host to greet us or show us to our seats. After waiting for at least 10 minutes with no one acknowledging that we were waiting to be seated, I finally asked the bar tender about a table and our reservation. She appeared frazzled and explained that the host had not shown up and that we should seat ourselves. Thank goodness it wasn't very busy so that our party of seven women could move the tables around to fit us all, with absolutely no help from anyone. Our food was awful. Much to salty and not at all as good as I remembered. Our waitress was quite good, considering that it is never easy to serve seven people, and did agree to split our bills after checking with her manager. And adding a service charge without telling us. I'm not sure why it seems to be impossible for servers in Toronto to split bills, but I find that it is very poor customer service, especially since I know that it's not at all difficult. The staff did allow us to sit and visit at our table for at least an hour after we had paid the bill and finished our meal, which was very nice of them. Don't think I'll be back.

Met a bunch of friends on the very quaint patio...

Met a bunch of friends on the very quaint patio to a fun fulfilled night of the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. It took 30 minutes to get served our first drink and over an hour for spring rolls to arrive. It took 30 minutes for the waitress to bring our bill…we paid and left. As we were stepping into the cab, the server ran after us because she forgot to charge us for 2 drinks, she made us go back inside to pay. Perhaps she should have paid with the $14 tip I gave her which she did not deserve. At this point, the manager (pretty woman with long dark hair) was incredibly rude, to an unacceptable and offensive level. Our entire party probably spent around $400 throughout the night and they made us come back, due to their error and pay for 2 more drinks. Don’t get me wrong, I always pay what I owe, at this point, we were half in the taxi. The manager's excuse for the bad service was that one of the waitresses was new and being trained, but I can see from the above reviews “Hey Lucy” Café repeatedly has bad service, perhaps they are just training this waitress to uphold this tradition.
