The King was probably well-established when Montreal was founded. Well, perhaps not, but let’s just say a quick visit to this institution on the Plaza St. Hubert effortlessly whisks us back 60 years ago with its period decor. Open until 5:30am Thursday to Sunday – and 2:30am the rest of the week – the King will feed you an excellent smoked meat dish or one of the best pork souvlakis in town.
It isn’t called Le Roi (The King) for nothing. This Plaza St-Hubert institution has been there for 60 years and it didn’t change much over the last few years, except for the big screen TVs that were recently installed. But we don’t go there to see the hockey game but to taste their delicious smoked meat, served in a plate or in a sandwich.
