I read many reviews from many places and decided I didn't want to visit this place, after bumping into a friend who had RAVE reviews I decided to give it a shot and dam I am GLAD! The eating area decor is old and not meant to impress, but many reviews said it was dirty I did NOT find that it is a truck stop. I read there are rude waitresses, well there isn't any waitresses at all so that issue was void. You order your food and wait for your number to be called is how the purchase process works. What you get is a GREAT tasting steak for a crazy value, 12oz your choice of 3 cuts NY, Tbone, or rib eye AND fries for $11.99, OR feeling more hungry 16oz same cut choices for $12.99 but no sides. I went there the first time one week ago and have been there 4 times my orders have been the 12oz special with fries and 16oz without fries all times were great. SO you love steak but can't afford the crazy prices and don't care about decor this place can't disappoint, great steak and portions for budget pricing.
Excellent Food & Prices. You don't have to tip. I have seen the Kitchen and the dinning area. Very dirty! It has always been like that. I've been eating there for over 10 years. It has its own culture of Characters there! Atmospere , well there is none! I find the food well cooked and huge portions.
The best steak ever is the Delmonico it is on special right now for $15.99 incl choice of pott and salad...truly the best steak ever!!!!! it is from the front of the cow as the owner explained to me i will be back for another anytime i get the chance!!!!! No disapointment here!!!
Every time my dad and I traveled to Mississauga we would stop at master steak. My dad was the one to bounce around the menu more, I just wanted my master burger plater! You place your order at the till and then theirs not much communication until they call your number... Thats not how it has to be though. My dad and I enjoy talking to each other will we wait for our food but we well talk to the person at the till and the cook as well, there really friendly people. My first time eating at Master Steak I was scared when they showed me my order! The burger was massive and the fries were pilled high covering my plate! You get what you pay for! The food was amazing I truly did not want to stop eating. And so far my dad has enjoyed everything he has tried also. I have been here a number of times and each time has been enjoyable. Although the place isn't always the cleanest I can understand why they cant keep up. With the amount of people that love there food and as often as its packed they need all the help they can get and sometimes people need to learn to clean up there own trays. Yes you can blame the restaurant but every time I bring my tray back I get a big smile and a appreciated thank you. When leaving Master steak I love to call my mom and brag... The phone call starts with "Guess where I just ate! Let me give you a hit! OH I'M JUST SO FULL"
The service was as good as it could get for a restaurant you order up front at the counter. For the price, the food is really good. The atmosphere isn't meant to impress, the restaurant is meant to hold as much people as possible without being too uncomfortable.
Time and again my friends and I visit here for the cheap food, beer (2.10 draft) and 11.30 after tax for a steak. The older cashier at the counter is a piece of work, she's rude, but calls you "dear" at the same time. The new younger girl is great. Makes you feel like you matter. Definitly going back. If you have a lot of friends and just want some cheap steak, go for it. I mean, where else can you get a 24 ounce porterhouse steak at 2 in the morning after a night at the bar, did I say it was only 18.99? Which by the way they have one of those attached to it... and you can order food in there too! So if you want the sit down feel just order in there. Depending on what you order is what you get! Don't put dressing on the salad, definitly order it on the side.. mine got all soggy. Gravy is fantastic. Rice is gross, never get the rice. The french fries are where its at... lots of them! Definitly truck stop, self serve diner type place. Go, try for yourself.
I've been there several times. They have great Rib steaks and T-Bone. I admit that their quality can be inconsistent sometimes. But you're paying a 16oz steak meal with sides for $10-$16 for something that is worth at least $25+... it's say it's near the 30s.. It's just slightly below The Keg, but it's half price. The Keg could easily mistake you with a steak from Master Steaks, and you wouldn't notice. Add 75 cents for hot mushrooms or onions. It's self-serve. Extremely good value.
This is a great place to satisfy late night steak cravings. The best thing about this place, I must say is the price.. For about 11 dollars, you get a midsize steak, and a side dish (salad or potato) The food was ok.. atmosphere could see some improvement.. pricing was great.. Good place to come with close friends.. but not a good place for a date or family dinner..
Burgers, chicken strips, wings, fries are your typical diner/pub fair. Well prepared and tasty when you are really hungry after a hard night's work ;) In fact the atmosphere really does feel like a "trucker's pit stop" If you are looking for a romantic setting with your significant other... perhaps this might not be the right place.. Its just a simple diner to order, sit and eat. The steaks themselves go really well with beer. One thing that needs mentioning is that the portion of fries that come alongside your sandwiches are HUGE!!! So either you should be on a very empty belly... or you should ask for a take out container when ordering anything with fries. Finally the counter staff attitude. The counter staff are actually not that unfriendly as long as you don't try too hard to play "buddy buddy" with them. The trick is to be polite but straight to the point. Order, be patient (sometimes it takes awhile till your number gets called up) and say your thank you's. Master Steaks seems like a pretty busy diner. The staff are probably not frustated in appearance for the sake of it. Good chances are they work long hours and are doing their best to cope with the fast paced bustle. If you are looking for a beautiful view of the sunset and romantic music in the background... keep searching... this most likely aint it. However if you just got off your shift and are grumbling for some decently prepared pub diner fare... this might just be the place for you and your work mates.
I will not be returning to this resturant. The lady behind the counter makes you feel like you are a nuisance and that you are on her last nerve even though you are being completely polite. There are notes, signs and prices marked up everywhere which can be confusing for the customers. Not for the people that work there of course which is most important to them. The atmosphere made me lose my appetite. It is not the cleanest place. There was some guy that walked through with a dirty apron and then the counter lady went through with a cleaning cart. The steak was good. The rest wasn't. The onion rings were odd tasting and sweet? The salad was wilted and slimy with 8 croutons. The potatoes were served with some sort of sauce that got mixed with the bloody juice from the steak which is not exactly appetizing. Our plates were on trays that were shedding a film because I guess they were so old. Oh and the few vegetables we got were obviously frozen and not completely cooked through. I just think anyone would be better off buying an expensive steak at the grocery store and making their own side dishes.
The place does have an attitude. The lady cook has probably been on her feet for 50 years straight behind the counter, that's why she is so abrupt and cold. Her attitude was surprising, and pointless. I had never been in this place before, and did not know where to order. At the counter, or the cash, no sign. When I asked politely, the big young girl cashier answered like I must be a total moron, and a total pain for bothering her. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, with gravy on the side, to stay. In a short time, they called out my number. The lady cook was really abrupt asking me what I wanted on the burger. I tried to warm her up by being so nice, but that was useless. Fortunately, the food was very good, above average. Good size tasty burger, not "all bun" . Seasoned and cooked well. Good fresh fries, good gravy and lots of it. The floors had a large build up of dust and crap in the corners, under tables that were never used, really badly noticeable. Trays and plates left on other tables, for a long time. Sad looking old guy slowly taking trays away on a rolling cart, walking around in a daze. I finished my plate, happy with the food but wishing the place was cleaner. Makes me wonder how clean it is where food is kept and prepped. The ladies washroom had a dirty small sink, no soap in the dispenser, and no paper towels....a rinse and dry on my own shirt had to do. I told the lady cook on my way out that the food was great, she seemed to appreciate that at least. I will go back, as it is so close and convenient for me during work. I hate wasting time and $ on boring burgers, this place has good ones that to me will outweigh the lower points.
I have visited Master Steaks on a few occassions. Each time I become aware how poor the customer service is and how filthy it is. The cashier and people behind the counter have too much attitude. The food is ok but is does not compensate for service. I agree you get what you pay for but I have had much better service at independent burger joints.
I must've passed this restaurant more than a hundred times to & from work. On my drive home from work (which was at 9:30pm - I only mention this so you know how busy it was inside the restaurant at this time of day) I decided to pull in & give it a try. Whenever I drive by this restaurant I can't help but shake the feeling that this place looks like a trucker hangout. Inside, the floors looked like they hadn't been broomed or mopped for some time. There were small salt and pepper packs spread around on the floor. There was a nice balance of people. The ambiance bordered between trucker hangout and family restaurant. On the outside of their restaurant is a big sign that obviously features their name, but just under it is a menu that states "16Oz Steak $11.99" Once inside, I did not see the $11.99 advertised price anywhere. I approached the order taker, and asked her about the $11.99 offer on their sign. She shook her head at me and said "No, that's if you want your steak uncooked". I looked at her like she was crazy but then quickly assumed that they are also doubling as a butcher house (not just a restaurant). So you can buy your steaks here and cook 'em at home too. I gave the menu the quick once over and decided on the 16 Oz. steak with roasted potatos, salad & one Heineken beer totaling $21.23. Take note, this place does not accept debit as a form of payment. They do however, accept credit card and have a handy ATM located in their restaurant. You're looking at a wait time of approximately 15-20 minutes. The older man who was preparing my meal looked at me & sternly said "Have a seat, I'll call you when your number's up". Asides from the dirty floors, I also noticed table after table with food trays just sitting on them (the remains of previous diners experience). Nobody bothered cleaning up the dirty dishes off the table. I specifically asked to have my beer kept in the fridge until my order was ready but it was taken out at the time of the order, warming up as my meal was being prepared. 20 minutes later, my beer is not as cold as I'd like it and my medium cooked steak is ready to go! I look at my tray and see a lovely looking steak. I asked the food preparer about steak sauce. He advised he already put it in on the side in one of those paper cups they use for ketchup at the other fast food joints. After thanking the food preparer, I wandered off to a table with no previous trays or the flies that have gathered to pick at the remains. The steak tasted great! Cooked just as I requested (medium). The roasted potatoes were good too; not too spicy or too bland. On the side of my steak was a small handful of steamed veggies (but they got soggy by the time I got to them). Overall, the food itself was great. Unfortunately I just couldn't get past the dirty environment, the warm beer & the lack of debit card payment so that was my first & last visit.
You need to be aware that you cannot reserve tables and the wine selection is one white, one red. But the food is very good and the staff work very hard to ensure you have a good eating experience.
Best ribs i have ever had in my life and i have tried lots!
i came with my family we ordered ribs which the beautiful cashier suggested the food was as great as the service although the counter where the food was prepared was quite dirty
Newbie on the cash charged us wrong! but I have been going to this place for years and the money you spend is nothing to quality of food that recieve. The meals are always full of flavor and you get large portions for the money that you spend
Alot of the food is prepared on the site, steaks are portioned cut there, gravy and soups are from scratch. For what I paid I couldn't find cause to complain.Great place for breakfast lunch or dinner.
Man, what a treat. I had the steak (which was absolutley amazing & had the opportunity to try the 16 oz. burger -equally amazing. Fries were great. Drinks were drinks. It looks a little cafeteria-like, but it has it's own charm. Good price - the chicken wings looked great.
