So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant. The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. My husband found this little place about 4 years ago when we were in Parksville for a family vacation. We had no reservation and they were able to find us a table outside in no time, since then we continue to come here as our 'date night', even more exciting since we now have 2 little ones! The food is excellent, the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are reasonable quick and courteous. We have never had any major issues, and now with the no smoking with in 3 feet of any building I am hoping the only thing that ever annoyed me is no longer an issue!
